We look forward to learning with and from you! We aim to create a reflective space in which you not only feel safe but also brave, inspired and productive. We invite you to keep an open mind. We encourage you to dig deep(er) into texts, take some pedagogical risks, and ask some big questions. Please let us know how we can best support you.
- Exploring what transfer is and how instructors can encourage students to incorporate previous, relevant writing experiences and knowledge in new and different writing contexts;
- Designing activities and curricula to 'teach for transfer', anticipate and work through threshold concepts for writing in their discipline, and allow students to Decode the Discipline;
- Articulating and unpacking the disciplinary values and rhetorical moves common to effective writing in your courses;
- Determining and planning opportunities for student reflection and metacognitive writing on rhetorical elements of various writing contexts, including context, purpose, audience, and genre; and
- Selecting and curating relevant artifacts to represent transfer and writing in their classrooms and discipline(s) in our Digital Archive of Writing Instruction (DAWI).
